What is male menopause?
Male menopause occurs when a male reaches at the age of 50. This is because of the declining level of testosterone in the body of a male. Testosterone is responsible for androgenic and anabolic activities in males.
Androgenic activity is responsible for the development and maintenance of sexual characters like development of penis, scrotum, testis, semen, sperms, sex drive, erection, sustained erection, timing of sex act etc. Male menopause is also known as Andropause because testosterone is also called as Androgen.
Anabolic activity is responsible for muscular body of man, hoarseness of voice, emotional get up of male type, maintenance of vital organs like heart, kidneys, lungs, liver etc.
Since testosterone is the male hormone and plays a vital role in the body as mentioned above, it’s production in the body is very important. Production of Testosterone starts at puberty and the body of a boy starts developing into man. Testosterone production keeps on increasing till 35 years of age and then it starts declining. Around the age of 50 the production of this hormone is so low that it is unable to perform its androgenic and anabolic functions properly.
